Happy Easter, and the Constitutional Crisis

Temperature today: 60C. It’s damn hot but we’re not quite ready for boiling.

Easter is a day to think about death and to celebrate rebirth and the resiliency of life. It’s also a good day to note that Pope Francis declined to meet publicly with JD Vance, and instead sent a cardinal to lecture Vance on compassion. I expect it fell on deaf ears, but a public message was sent and there was no photo op.

Too much news is spent either saying the Constitutional crisis is here or debating when it will be here. Not to understate the seriousness of current events, but we’ve been in Constitutional crisis ever since candidate Trump in 2016 said he would accept the election results if he won. He should have been disqualified right then, and everything since has only taken us further and further down the road. There are still ways out but they are narrower.

Tomorrow I’ll talk a bit about the big picture.
